PRIVACY, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE

Your privacy deserves more than fine print.

Meeting people should feel exciting, not uncertain. This policy explains what personal information may be handled when you use LubDub, why it may be used, and the choices available to you.

Last updated: 17 October 2026 Written to be read, not decoded.
THE IMPORTANT BIT

Your information deserves care. LubDub may handle information needed to provide your account, profile, connections, communications and safety features. What is handled depends on the features you use, the information you choose to share, and the permissions you grant. This policy explains the main categories and the choices you may have.

01

What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information may be collected, used, disclosed, and retained when you visit LubDub's website, use its services, create or manage a profile, interact with other members, or contact the team.

In this policy, “LubDub”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the service and the organisation responsible for operating it. “You” means a person who visits or uses our services.

The policy should be read alongside any notices shown when you sign up, change a setting, grant a device permission, or use a feature that handles information in a particular way.

02

Information we may handle

The information involved depends on how you use LubDub. Categories may include the following.

Account and profile information

Information you provide when registering or building a profile, such as your name or display name, date of birth, email address or phone number, photographs, bio, interests, preferences and profile settings.

Connections and communications

Depending on the features available, this may include likes, matches, connection preferences, messages, interactions with other members, reports, and information you provide when requesting support.

Location information

If a location-based feature is offered and you enable it, LubDub may process location information supplied by your device or information you enter yourself. You can review your device's location permissions. Disabling access may limit features that depend on location.

Device and usage information

When supported by the website or app, technical information may include your IP address, browser or device type, app version, access times, diagnostic records, feature usage and information collected through cookies or similar technologies.

Information from other sources

We may receive information about interactions, reports or safety concerns involving an account. If a feature uses an external sign-in, verification or other third-party service, that service may provide information as explained when you use the feature.

Share thoughtfully. Profile details, photographs, messages and relationship preferences can reveal personal information. Please consider what you choose to disclose to other members.
03

How information may be used

Personal information may be used for purposes connected with operating, improving and protecting the service, including to:

  • Create, maintain and administer accounts and profiles.
  • Provide matching, discovery, messaging or friendship features where available.
  • Remember settings and preferences you choose.
  • Respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
  • Help detect spam, scams, abuse, security incidents or violations of our rules.
  • Diagnose technical issues, understand service performance and improve features.
  • Send important account, service, policy or safety notices.
  • Meet applicable legal obligations and address legitimate legal claims.

Where consent is required, we should request it in a clear and appropriate way. Information should be used for the purposes described to you or other purposes permitted under applicable law.

04

What other members can see

Information you choose to put on a profile may be visible to other members according to the service's design and your settings. This may include photographs, your display name, age or other profile details you provide.

Before posting content, consider whether you are comfortable sharing it. Information shared with another member may be copied, recorded, saved or shared by that person outside LubDub. Removing content from your profile cannot always remove copies another person has already made.

Please avoid publishing contact details, home addresses, financial information, passwords or other information that could put your privacy or safety at risk.

05

When information may be shared

Personal information may be shared only as appropriate for the service and subject to applicable requirements. Depending on how LubDub operates, recipients may include:

  • Other members: information you choose to display or communicate to them.
  • Service providers: organisations that support functions such as hosting, technical infrastructure, customer support, security, analytics or communications, if those services are used.
  • Safety and legal recipients: appropriate authorities or other parties when required or permitted by applicable law, or when necessary to address serious safety, fraud or security concerns.
  • Business changes: relevant parties involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or transfer of business, subject to appropriate protections and applicable law.

A particular feature may have additional terms or notices explaining what information it shares. Those explanations should be reviewed before the feature is launched.

06

Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies or similar technologies to support essential functionality, remember preferences, protect the service, or measure performance where appropriate technologies are enabled.

Your browser may let you review or remove cookies or block certain types. Some site functions may not work as expected if essential technologies are blocked. Any analytics, advertising or other non-essential technologies actually used by LubDub should be disclosed accurately, together with any required consent choices.

07

How long information is kept

Information should be retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. The appropriate period depends on the type of information, why it is needed, and applicable legal or safety requirements.

If account deletion becomes available, deleting an account should initiate the applicable deletion process. Some information may need to be retained for a limited time for security, fraud prevention, dispute handling or legal obligations. Backup copies may also take time to expire under the applicable backup schedule.

Specific retention periods should be documented for the systems and providers that actually handle LubDub data.

08

How information is protected

Appropriate technical and organisational safeguards should be used to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. These measures should reflect the sensitivity of the information and the risks associated with the service.

No website, app, communication channel or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You should protect your login credentials and contact us if you suspect unauthorised account activity.

09

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on applicable law and the features available, you may have rights or choices concerning your personal information. These can include:

  • Accessing information about how your personal data is handled.
  • Requesting correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Requesting deletion of personal information where applicable.
  • Withdrawing consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Managing profile visibility, device permissions and communication preferences where those settings are offered.
  • Raising a concern or complaint about the handling of your information.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request and may be unable to fulfil a request in full where an applicable legal exception applies. We will explain relevant limitations where required.

To make a privacy-related request, use the Contact Us page. A working contact channel and procedure for handling privacy requests must be in place before launch.

10

Age requirements

LubDub is intended for adults aged 18 and over. People under 18 must not create an account or use the service. Appropriate age-related protections should be implemented as part of registration and account-safety processes.

If you believe that someone under 18 has provided personal information to LubDub, please contact us through the Contact Us page so the concern can be reviewed and appropriate steps considered.

11

International processing

Depending on where LubDub's systems and service providers operate, information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where you live. Where international transfers occur, they should be handled in accordance with applicable law and the safeguards required for the relevant transfer.

12

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as LubDub's features, systems, providers or legal obligations change. When an update is made, the revised policy should be published here with a new “Last updated” date.

If a change requires additional notice or consent, we should provide it in the manner required by applicable law.

13

Contact us about privacy

If you have a question about this policy, want to make a privacy request, or need to raise a concern about personal information, please get in touch with the LubDub team.

Before this policy is published as a final legal notice, the responsible legal entity's name and address, a monitored privacy contact, and any applicable grievance contact details must be added and verified.
